I’m Teegan Townsend, a modern Marriage Celebrant based in Canberra.

Here’s the thing I’ve learnt after marrying a whole lot of legends: choosing your celebrant isn’t just about who stands up the front and says the legal words. It’s about choosing the person you want in your corner through the whole process.

I’ve married over 250 couples and with that comes a ton of experience in every situation. I’m the person who answers your random questions. Who calms your nerves before you walk down the aisle. Who knows when to make a joke, when to let a moment breathe. I know how to read a room and win over the key important people in the front row.

My couples tell me I make the whole experience feel easy, relaxed and completely personal. They tell me I’m fun, warm, professional and ridiculously helpful. They tell me their guests thought we’d been friends for years. And, probably my favourite, they tell me their ceremony had the perfect balance of laughs, happy tears and all the good stuff in between.

That’s exactly what I’m chasing.

I’m not here to give you a bland, boring and generic ceremony or stand up there and waffle on about the Oxford definition of marriage. I’m here to get to know you, steal the best bits of your story, turn them into a ceremony your people will actually enjoy listening to, and make sure the whole thing feels effortless on the day.

And this should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. I believe that love is for everyone. I am inclusive and welcoming of all couples. Be it diversity in gender identity, body, sex, sexual orientation, race, culture, religion, physical or mental barriers… 

If you are two consenting adults (who aren’t cousins) and want to get married then I think we will get along just great!

Teegan saved my entire wedding! When my original celebrant's family had a covid crisis the morning of my wedding day - Teegan took over and saved everything. Last minute she dropped everything to travel interstate from Canberra to Bowral!

I was so nervous, even more so not knowing who was going to marry us.
