My name is Teegan Townsend and I am a modern Marriage Celebrant based in Canberra.

MY ULTIMATE GOAL IS THAT YOU (AND YOUR GUESTS) WALK AWAY FROM YOUR CEREMONY AND SAY “THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN”.

But just one thing.. I’m not the kind of marriage celebrant who does boring ick or the “romantic fairytale” shudder ceremonies.

So… hand on heart - I promise not to stand up there and read lame poetry or explain the definition of marriage according to Oxford, (puke) but this means I’m a bit picky with who I work with. My couples are after something fun, happy, modern and ready to throw boring traditions in the bin (nobody has time for a hand binding). If you want to smile, laugh and maybe even shed a few happy tears then I think we’ll get along.

And this should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway. Love is love. It’s for everyone. Teegan Loves Weddings is inclusive and welcoming of all couples. Be it diversity in gender identity, body, sex, sexual orientation, race, culture, religion, physical or mental barriers…

What’s next?

  • Firstly, get in touch by using the contact button or send an email to find out if your chosen wedding date is available (my bookings are currently open until mid-2027)!

  • We can say hello via a video call. I’ll chat and let you know about me, what I do as your marriage celebrant and you can ask me any questions. After the call you can let me know if I’m the marriage celebrant for you. A booking deposit of 10% then confirms your date.

  • Now we turn up the planning dial. Over a coffee (my fav bean is Red Brick in Curtin) or another virtual meeting we can organise to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage and start to organise the ideas for your wedding ceremony. Don’t worry - you get married once (probably) and I am around weddings every week so I will come to you with all the ideas that fit the vibe you are after. It’s like the very best kind of “choose your own adventure” book.

  • I will ask that you pay your final invoice at least 4 weeks before your wedding ceremony

  • We can catch up a few weeks before your wedding for a beverage (this is the modern take of a wedding rehearsal - your wedding is not a production though so we won’t practice the walk) and we will organise to to sign the No Legal Impediment to Marriage and go through your final script.

  • Your wedding ceremony! The best part! Cue the laughter, tears, hugs and photos. At some point we will sign the Official Certificate of Marriage and you will be presented with your Marriage Certificate.

  • Afterwards I will submit all legal paperwork. I’ll send you a follow up email when this is done. If you would like to change your name - I’ll send you some info on this.

Teegan saved my entire wedding! When my original celebrant's family had a covid crisis the morning of my wedding day - Teegan took over and saved everything. Last minute she dropped everything to travel interstate from Canberra to Bowral!

I was so nervous, even more so not knowing who was going to marry us. Just before I was about to walk down the aisle, she quickly came over and calmed my nerves, introduced herself and delivered the BEST ceremony ever.
